Merry Meet!
We have some opportunities presented to our group, and I need to put them out to all of you so you can share your ideas and thoughts. The Rec Plantation in Dripping Springs has been reserved by another pagan group who is not able to go forward eith plans for an Ostara weekend. The weekend is reserved and the deposit has been made for March 20 and 21st 2008. We have been offered to take advantage of this facility and have plans to make the weekend an event for all of us to enjoy and grow. The financial obligation is where we need to get creative. COTES continues to have a commitment to allow as many of our community the opportunity to participate is as many events as possible. This means we will need to raise funds to bring the cost of admission within reach of as many people as we are able. Here is one idea to consider: A community service sponsorship event that will raise money for the education of pagans at this events. This means something like a highway cleanup, etc where you...yeas...all of us....get sponsors for our time while we complete a community service project. Here is another idea: If you are in a position to afford an extra admission price, we can have silent labor auction. . So...if you need your house painted, your wood chopped, curtains sewn, a cape made, etc. you can bid on able bodied and talented ,members to trade their efforts for the price of their admission. If you have a talent, craft, or sweat to offer up for bidding, you can approach me and I can create a cupon for the auction. BTW, this comes to about $35.00/person. If this idea appeals to this temple group we can discuss the details. Let me know how you feel about this. We need to act now if we want to make this happen and there needs to be participation by everyone who would like to attend. There is always something you can do to pitch in. Since the purpose is to promote growth, we will need to provide roundtables etc for this weekend...but don't we always love a great discussion?!!! Blessings, and I'll be looking forward to your input. By popular demand, here are the instructions again for the Magick House!! Directions to The Magick House UPDATED with more detail for those who are challenged even more than I am at navigating!! ! Don't forget to map quest if you need a visual. Directions to C.O.T.E.S. in Pipe Creek at The Magick House Find HWY 16 (Bandera Road) by one of the following ways: *From Helotes, points South, and points West...just pick up Hwy 16 North. It'll be about 30 minutes from Helotis at El Chapparel Restaurant. *From points East, the medical center, and Boerne: Hwy 10W to Hwy 46W (left, towards Bandera) to Hwy 16 north (right off of HWY 46). Left onto FM 1283. About 25 minutes from Boerne @ the intersection of Hwy 10 and Hwy 46. *From Kerville: (2 ways to get here) 1. IH10 E to Boerne, exit and turn right onto Hwy 46W, Right onto Hwy 16 N. Left onto FM 1283. 25 minutes from Boerne. Or... 2. Hwy 173 to Bandera. Take a left onto Hwy 16 at the light with True Value and Church?s Chicken. Follow Main Street (Hwy 16) until you get to the last light at Bandera Bank/Old West Imports/ and the OST. Take a left (still Hwy 16). Follow until you get to Pipe Creek (about 10 miles or so). Take a right onto FM 1283 and follow directions below. About 1 hour from Kerrville starting at HWY 173 and the loop (534?), 15 minutes from Bandera. Everyone.... .Take Hwy 16 to FM1283 * FM 1283 starts in Pipe Creek at the new traffic lights : Post Office/Junction Cafe,(car wash, EZ mart) *On your left coming from San Antonio, on your right coming from Bandera. Follow FM1283 1 mile and take a Right onto Loti Lane. Look for the yellow diamond shaped sign with the fire engine on it. Loti Lane is on the right soon after. If you see the little hick type Pipe Creek Fire station, it's almost directly across the street. Loti Lane is a small dirt road with a few mail boxes at the beginning of the road. There's a rock house close to the corner. Follow Loti Lane 0.5 miles and take a right onto Shadow Lane. This is another dirt road. Diamond G road is straight ahead (looks like a dirt drive), Shadow Lane is the turn right. This is the first and only right turn available. These are all dirt roads, and can be rough depending on the time of the year. Trucks are best, sharing rides better. Go slow to avoid problems! Most of thebig holes have been patched by new neighbors. Cars are doing very well now. This last mile (from 1283 to the ranch) takes about 10 minutes in a car, 5 in a truck. Please be polite to the neighbors. The road only allows one vehicle to fit at a time. If you see another vehicle coming the other way, please look for a place to pull over (they will do the same for you!) and let each other pass as easily as possible. Don't forget to wave too! Travel down Shadow Lane about 0.4 miles and you're here! *You'll pass 2 gates on the left on the way. *The road will bend to the left and looks like a truck trail. There's an old scary looking run down trailer on this corner.Keep going! *Look for a faded #480 painted on the utility pole...you're almost here. *The trees break on the right after the utility pole. That's the place. *The animals will announce you. Everyone is behind fences, *If you went too far you will dead end on the last property and will be able to turn around there. It'll be the first break in the trees on the left coming back! Park anywhere on the dirt and wander towards the fire or the rope lights marking the path to the Magick House. It's behind the Labyrinth. It's not as hard to find as it sounds. Just wanted to give as many details as possible so you will know you are in the right place. See you there! Things to bring for all gatherings at the Magick House: Folding chairs (for outside around the circle) fat cushion to sit on (no chairs inside the Magick House!). Blankets for warmth Something you like to drink. Fire wood and bags of all purpose sand ($3.00/bag at Home Depot) for around the fire are always appreciated. Drums and noise makers for all circles,Sabbats and celebrations. Check the posting for lists specific to each event for food and craft supplies needed, etc. Events that are "clothing optional" are for adults (over 18) only. They don't happen often, but they do happen and they will be announced. Families are welcome. |
