![]() Merry Meet! The COTES Founders met on December 2, 2007. The meeting was very productive. Below you will find notes reflecting the content of the meeting for your information. COTES has decided to move forward in the process of applying for a 501 (c)(3) status independent of other groups. The Founders concluded that the philosphy of our temple includes a responsibility to raise an awareness of organized pagan groups. The intent is to participate in having the pagan culture become more widely recognized in order to dilute the prejudices fed by ignorance and misunderstanding perpetuated by remaining “in the broom closet”. Fund raising activities have been planned to finance the application for 501(c)(3) status. Many activities are built on community service functions. For example, a day to clean a park will comence in summer 2008. Sponsors will be gathered and asked to pledge money by the full trash bag or by the hour. Donated items will also be displayed for a silent auction. All money raised by activities will be used to fund the tax status, and will be aimed at maintaining very low cost events. Our philosophy is one of inclusion. The Beltaine Concert/campout was discussed. Spiral Dance was enthusiastically approved as entertainment for Saturday, May 17th. Details of the event were also sketched with the finer details tabled untila fter the Witch’s Ball at Yule, 2007. The Founders agreed a need to set up a method of purchasing tickets over the internet is necessary. This task will be completed by the middle of january 2008, or as close to that date as possible. The structure of the membership was discussed and approved. This is posted on the “Formailities”page of the website. Details eluded to in the web site document are added to the COTES BOS. The COTES seal was approved, and can be seen at the top of this page. During the previous meeting, the founders discussed the elements that needed to be incorporated into the seal in order to best represent our broad range of traditions, the spirit of the membership, and have a magickal talisman. The last Saturday of each month will continue to be drumming circle at sundown. Round table will immediately precede drumming for approximately one and a half hours. Youth circle will begin in december 2007, and continue to meet on the last Saturday of the month midday until round table. The same day each month will be set aside for working on the property to prepare for the concert/campouts that COTES conducts. The agends for the next Founder’s meeting, set for December 16, 2007, will include the following: Drafts of the following documents will be brought to the meeting, discussed, modified, and finalized:
As these documents are finalized they will be posted on the “formalities” page with details to be found in the COTES |
